The ideal Medical Scheduler will have at least two consistent years (in the past 3 years) of recent experience in a surgical specialty physician office or clinic. While experience in a surgical environment is preferred, it is not mandatory. Medical Scheduler must have strong references and demonstrate employment longevity, defined as holding a position for more than two years. 

Education | Certification

High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred) 

Must have a minimum of two (2) years in a physician office or clinic - experience must be within the past three (3) years (required) 

• Proficiency with computers, including EMR software (required) 

Essential Functions | Major Requirements

Answer incoming calls to triage and schedule appointments or take complete and accurate messages. 

• Make outgoing calls to reschedule appointments as needed or to remind patients of appointment times and required information (e.g., insurance cards). 

Check patients out after appointments, scheduling follow-up appointments as requested. Ensure timely completion of related follow-up work (same day or by the next day), 

including relaying messages to clinical staff for return calls. 

Use insurance contract lists and service protocols to determine the most appropriate approach to scheduling patients. 

Contact patients who missed appointments to reschedule.
